on the road.

We started our tour Boston, what a great place and crowd. Great to be up on stage again with Rhonda, Narada and Jason. Jason has done something in his knee and is hobbling around on and off stage.

I did 2 very special, unique shows in New York as a Tribute to my friend the fantastic Les Paul last week with Imelda May and her fabulous band. The shows meant a lot to me as they were my way of honouring one of the greatest guitarists in the world. I was thrilled to see some of my colleagues and friends come to the shows including David Bowie and Jan Hammer. The atmosphere was great, the band fantastic. Leo Green has to be one of the best and craziest saxophonist’s ever and I am so pleased he was able to join us.

Back on the road now. We finish this leg at Crossroads Festival on 26th June.

Hi Jeff,
At a new employment today, the owner introduced her son (age 12 ) to me. We got on the subject of guitars, we both play them. I asked him if he knows who Jeff Beck is ( sounding very Stephen Colbert like) he replied YA!!! of course! who's better then him, NO ONE! You think that right? I said Oh yes, he is my hero!!! He told me he was trying to play Scatter Brain, he said, It's to hard!!
great kid!! I showed him the photo I have of me with you, yes I do carry it in my wallet.I do brag
about you.

I for one never got to talk to Steve Vai or Jeff Beck,
though I did get into the Les Paul afterparty at Iridium a few months back. I stood right between Beck's table and the huge complimentary shrimpbowl for an hour--so everyone had to pass me if they wanted a peek at Beck or a bite of shrimp. Never got to talk to him, but I watched him eat a mozzarella-roast pepper sandwich. (I assume it was mozzarella, though from what I've heard of his diet I might be mistaken). Whatever. Fact is we mortals all watched him eat like he was a fish in a fishbowl or an exhibit at the zoo. "And in this exhibit, the world's greatest electric guitar player." And a thousand camera flashes go off.

Sure he enjoyed that meal!

I did talk to Steve Vai for an hour and I have a photograph with him. He's a great guy and an exemplary guitarist. He's a beekeeper and a very mystical and spiritual person. We also talked about Jeff and he admires him very much.

I'm envious of you Karen. But I'm also happy for you for having the honor to Know Jeff Beck. The Kid you met is brilliant. I did not ascertain that Jeff was in the highest pantheon of guitarists until I was 28 years old. Ever since Guitar Shop I have seen the light.

I have a golden email invite to the Les Paul Tribute after-party at The Iridium back in April. That'd be worth money to me if Jeff were willing to sign it. Wonder if there was somehwere I could send it.

In other news, has anyone else noticed that Beck's Hall of Fame inauguration performance (w/ Jimmy Page) is like...the best music vid on You Tube?

Just wondering 'cause I haven't heard anyone else mention that.

Yeah Summers, maybe that didn't come out exactly right (freaking written word has always proved troublesome for me!). But everyone knows--from grandfathers to the moron kids on Guitar Hero that Beck he is be the man.

I would just keep the "It would be worth money to me " comment out. I understand what you mean, but he was really nice about signing 2 things for me. I really don't ask him for anything ( he's already given so much!), just an exchange like a bottle of very expensive champagne with a cd signing, that worked really well. At least 6 bottles of champagne for thanking him for coming back and playing. I know he doesn't like the signed things to end up on ebay, can't blame him! He has been very accomidating for some time now though.
Email him, it's here, I have. Or you could ask Harvey.
Good Luck!!
Karen

Autographed Jeff Beck items on EBAY commencing September 1. Proceeds benefit Folly Wildlife Rescue. Animals rock and we must respect, protect and appreciate our fellow creatures. It's best NOT to eat them too !

Jeff,
Your show at Molde Jazz Festival (Norway) was "nothing but the best"! Maybe not to huge crowd, but I can tell you: We loved it! Just Excellent, I would say. Your new band supported you in an outstanding manner! (and me hoping to hear Tal (still do) could do nothing but really appreciate Rhonda's groovy bass play). And having the opportunity to listen to Herbie Hancock, Tal and Vinnie for well over an hour after you left the scene made my summer along the Atlantic cost of Norway a tremendous experience.

Understand you will be in Oslo in November. If so; I'll be there, too. And maybe Nadia?

Best regards,
Harald

It's really wonderful that the audience sang
"Nessun Dorma" in Lucca that is the birth place of
Puccini. It seems to be one scene of the fantastic
story. Their singing voices united with your
wonderful guitar, and they must have experienced
wonderful time, and it's their privilege.

One day when I watched the play of the Japanese
team of the World Cup in the sportscast, I heard
"Hammerhead" with the background. It was so
cool !! Really cool !! I remember "Hammerhead"
in your shows. It was so powerful and dramatic.
And the next was beautiful, delicate
"Mna na h'Eireann". The moment that changed
from the powerful tune to the delicate tune was
beautiful. I love this tune and I would like you to
perform it in your shows at the next season again.

I love both football and baseball.
(Congratulations, Spain). You sometimes look like
a splendid athlete. And I see such you and always think that I should train myself more for
a health. You are always younger than any
young person.

It's very too hot in Japan. The place where I live
is 35℃~37℃ for almost 20 days !! (*_*;
I think London is comfortable. I wish you to take
a good rest, and to show your wonderful
performance to people of the country that have
not been able to see your play at the next tour.

T.T
