VINNIE COLAIUTA (DRUMS)

Vinnie Colaiuta (along with Jason Rebello) has been part of Jeff’s line up for the past two years. Vinnie first came on the scene with Frank Zappa’s band in the late 1970’s. After leaving Zappa, Colaiuta went on to work with a long list of notable rock and pop artists, including Gino Vannelli, Joni Mitchell, Barbra Streisand, Sandy & Junior, Clannad, Wang Chung, Chaka Khan. Vinnie went on to become a regular Downbeat and Modern Drummer poll winner and today is a first call player for names such as Sting, Chick Corea and John McLaughlin.

With his ferocious jazz-rock technique, impeccable timekeeping, grooves so think you can climb inside them and unique off-the-wall sense of invention it was only a matter of time before his path would cross with Beck. He has also appeared with many notable jazz musicians, including Herbie Hancock, Jimmy Haslip, Quincy Jones, the Buddy Rich Big Band and Buell Neidlinger. He has also played with Chuck Loeb, David Goldblatt, David Sancious, Dean Brown, Herbie Hancock, Jeff Porcaro, Jim Beard, John Patitucci, Mark Egan, Robben Ford, and Tim Landers.

Colaiuta released a self-titled solo recording in 1994, and still remains one of the most in demand studio musicians playing on countless albums, a recent example being with the thrash metal outfit Megadeth on their album The System Has Failed.
